Hard disc keeps filling up!
I'm running a couple of Macs on OS 9.0.4 One of these ran out of hard disc space and kept crashing. However the total of all the files on the disc was nowhere near the discs capacity. Norton disk confirmed that the hard disc was full. So I ended up re intialising the drive and the laborious process of re-installing all the software. I now find it's filling up again.
Having looked at my other Mac a similar problem is arising with some 5 gig of info on the hard disc that I can't account for.
I run various software including Quark 4, Photoshop 5.5, Illustrator 8, MS office 98, Outlook etc..
My suspicions lie with Photoshop as this is most often used. Could it be creating files and not deleting them when quitting???
Anyone any ideas?

;) Your susipicions are correct. Photoshop during a crash can place saved files in a invisible folder with system9+.
Here are two freeware software solutions.
Eradicator -
Autopurge -

I've just run 'Eradicator' on 2 Macs... the first revealed some 200 mb of rogue files, the 2nd revealed an incredible 2.1 gig of files.

Thank you Barney.:)

Well done Steve glad to have been of service.
It really is amazing on computers ,all these mystery problems . These forums are to me an eternal wealth of knowledge and tips.
As you will find, the larger the size at the time of the crash the more space that is taken up.
Tip: Place "Autopurge" in your startup folder to keep these rogue files under control.
