Sherlock crashes when searching multiple shared volumes
Well, like the subject says, I've run into a problem with a couple machines that run OS 9.2. When searching 1 or 2 volumes shared from our server, everything works fine, the search is fast and completes as expected. But, if we search all 4 of our shared volumes, the Sherlock stops responding, and a messages pops up that the Mac has been disconnected from the server.
At first I suspected the server, but this problem only occurs on 2 of our 6 Macs. Any ideas? |
Is the Mac really disconnected from the server, or is Sherlock falsely reporting that? I really don't have much advice to impart; the only thing I can confidently say is that you should be using OS X. ;) Sorry, I know you did not need that gratuitous remark, but it's the only thing I can say. Using OS 9 for simple tasks is fine, but if you're doing anything remotely demanding you really should be on OS X.
