desktop rebuilding
hi..anyone know why my classic, which I switched on for the first time in 3 years insists on rebuilding its desktop each time it's powered up? Everything works fine once it's done the rebuild.
it was so good to see the happy mac after all that pc conditioning!:) |
Sounds like it's not properly rebuilding the desktop file. You could try running TechTool Lite and deleting your desktop file with it. I'm not sure if the program will run on your Classic, but it's worth a try.

Yeah, I agree with brad. The only time I have seen such behavior is when the desktop database was corrupted, probably because the rebuild process was halted. Have you let it finish rebuilding? As brad suggested, you'll want to grab a utility that will delete the database so that it can be rebuilt anew.
