Making Passwords for folders...
Is it possible to make passwords for folders through an application or control panel? eg.- I click on a folder and I get a pop up message window asking for a password, if the right password is not entered the folder just does not open--something to that effect. I know of an application to hide folders but I would rather have them visible at all times.

I think there's an AppleScript called FolderGuard that does that - or something to the same effect. You want it just ask.

Hi all,

For yet other AppleScript-based methods of implementing folder passwords, try searching on any of the major AppleScript-related web sites, such as's Script of the Week sub-site.

There's also a publicly-available script that implements folder passwords by utilizing the Folder Actions feature of Mac OS 8.5 or later; see the I need help with a custom script thread in the 'AppleScript' Forum here on MacNN.
