Error on Startup
I am getting a system error during startup in Mac OS 9.1 if I have Virtual memory turned off. This is problematic because Pro Tools will not run if Virtual Memory is turned on.

What is the System Error?

Delete your System and Finder preferences.

Replace your System and Finder with new versions from a core OS install you must do.

Need more help, just ask... or more specific instructions.

the error is "System Error: Illegal Instruction." I have just reinstalled Mac OS 9.1, then I got this error when I tried to startup with VM turned off.

What kind of computer do you have?
Installed anything recently?

Zap the PRAM - Apple+Option+P+R at startup then let go after 3 chimes.
