help real quick! macos face folder blinking question mark on startup
when we turn the imac on, big blank screen with purple folder shows up. on the folder, is the macos face icon and question mark, blinking back and forth. what is this? what do we do to stop it? help help help.

lime imac, mac os 9.

boot up off a CD, check the system folder, install a fresh one if necessary...

How long did you wait? You might try letting it have some time to try and find a System Folder. Also, sometimes shutting it down and leaving it alone for a few hours then trying again will do the trick.

start up fromm a system CD, choose your hard disk as startup disk. try reboot. reinstall system if that doesn't work.

You could also try to press alt-key when starting up. That should list all valid system folders.
