OS 9.1
I read in the latest UK Mac mag, Mac User that Apple will be releasing OS 9.1 some time around June or July. Does anyone know what new bugs will be included with this OS? I only ask because I thought I would try to "Think Different" by thinking in advance and thus prepare myself for the inevitable grief that lays ahead..

It will fix the Temporary Items bug as well as other bugs.

9.1 is suppose to "wrap-up" Mac OS 9 and be final release. I would assume CarbonLib 1.x, MRJ, a CD with carbonized IE, etc. There's rather a LOT of updates outside of 9.04 that need to be rolled into one and integrated it would seem.

I cannot help feeling that the majority of people suffering from 'bugs' in OS 9.0.4 did not install the update either as a clean install, or bother turning off 3rd party extensions. I performed a clean install of 9.0.3, then the 9.0.4 update over it, moved my third party extensions to the new system folder, and, I've never had a more stable system. I'm using a Rev A. iBook in the UK.

i did not do a clean install of 9.04, i just slapped it on top of MacOS 9 and i didn't disable my 'normal' set of extensions which includes a number of third-party stuff...

9.04 is as perfectly behaved as it could possibly be on my Macs (upgraded the same way on three generations of Macs: 6200, rev2 beige G3 mini, iBook)

I was not saying that everybody needs to disable 3rd party extensions or perform a clean install for upgrading to 9.0.4, I was just commenting on the fact that people with 'problems' with 9.0.4 probably did not disable/perform a clean install..having used Macs for 15 years, it kind of gets drummed into you from Apple that you turn off your third party extensions etc., before an OS upgrade ;-)

sorry if i sounded contentious, i did not mean to... only wished to state that my laziness/lack of caution in installing MacOS 9.04 worked for me

I've been using Macs since the Mac Plus about a decade and a half ago and have never had any problems installing an OS upgrade without disabling third party extensions, maybe I'm just lucky...on a couple hundred machines and probably over a thousand system upgrades across them all. http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/smile.gif
