Pause after login
After I login there is a 10 second pause before the finder loads, never did this before, seems like it started after i installed a couple gigs of mp3's ive dont the usual of rebuiling destop and zapping pram etc. nothing seems to work

Is your computer trying to establish a network connection when you aren't connected to a network (upon boot-up)? This can result in quite lengthy waits for the Finder. I just noticed you aren't talking about boot-up but rather login. I don't know if my comment applies to that scenario.

As well as that, do you have aliases to large folders (such as with several thousand items) in your Apple Menu?

thanks guys, the problems was that there was and alias of of the powerbook that i used to tranfer the mp3's via crossover cable in the server folder, so i guess it was trying to connect to that at startup, i deleted it and that fix the problem.
