.img file will not mount
Hi, I have a disk image file (.img) and when I double click it, it will open disk copy but not start to mount. Disk Copy has "none" for the checksum and will not let me drag it onto it to mount it either. I tried dragging it onto Toast but it said that it could not detect the format but to continue if you are sure it is a valid disk image. When I do and select mount in toast it gives an error that it couldn't complete the last command because there was an I/O error. It also gives a result code= -36

Does anyone know what all this means and is there anyway I can open or mount this image? Thanks for any help.

I'd guess that the image is most likely corrupted. I'd re aquire the image again, and try again

Try ShrinkWrap.

Sometimes stuffit deluxe can open troublesome files as well.

Where did the image come from?

I once ran some disk images through OS X DP3 (yes, that was A LONG TIME AGO), and they still won't mount in OS 9, though they mount and work fine in OS X (all versions up to the current 10.0.3).

If they don't contain anything really important, or are simple installers, or CD images or something, just, as oscar said, "re-acquire" them.
