Control Strip causing crashes
Control Strip is causing my 8500 (OS 9.0.4) to crash consistently on shut down.
I have trashed the CS prefs repeatedly, as well as Finder, System & Mac OS prefs but to no avail.

Suggestions?
Thanks

ok sounds like you have a genuine extension conflict... most likely you know what to do there, but first try trashing the File Exchange pref's and the ASLM pref's

i know they do not seem to be related to this problem and they may not be but it will not hurt to try

be sure to reset the File Exchange control panel after restart, uncheck 'PC Disks: Mount at startup' unless you want that feature because it slows the startup a bit

also, trash the invisible file 'Shutdown Check'

How do you see invisible files in order to trash them? Do I need special goggles? The right stuff?

Try reinstalling the Control Strip Extension. I've found it has a tendancy to break its resource forks quite easily, which leads to all kinds of problems.
