Checking memory usage
I'm wondering how I can check how much RAM is being used by extensions and control panels. Perhaps someone can suggest some utility, shareware, or freeware program to do this with?

Thanks!
Taylor

There are numerous ways to do this:

Control panels and extensions - click once on the item - go to Get Info in the File menu.

Extensions Manager - already in your operating system.

Extensions Overload - $20 - available at Version Tracker.

Conflict Catcher - $75 - Cassady & Greene - does many other valuable things as well.

Look into a piece of shareware called "More About This Mac" - or MATM for short. It will tell you how much ram all the hidden processes are using as well as the regular processes. You would be amazed how much ram your printer driver can use up. Others too...

Look for it at http://www.versiontracker.com -- of course.
