AppleTV - Dolby Digital output question
Hello,

I enjoy my Apple TV but have noticed that when watching movie trailers, that the sound is not in Dolby Digital. Is this normal? Any movies I rent work fine and output in DD 5.1 but movie trailers do not. Just curious if this is typical or some flaw in the Apple TV.

Thanks and regards,
Paul

A quick check of five random trailers found all of them to not be in dolby digital. I suspect there are some, though, just no idea which ones.

Thanks. That is what I suspected. Seems odd to me that the trailers wouldn't be in DD5.1 since these are supposed to tease the movie and you'd think that Hollywood would want to put their best foot forward when "selling" it.

Yeah I agree it's weird they don't have them in Dolby Digital.
