I'm a terrible player (never played Halo before), but this is pretty much all I've been playing lately, as the general VG thread can attest to. So rather than continuing to derail it every few days, I thought I'd start a fresh thread that will be lucky to make it to two pages.

Feel free to share pics, clips, game variant ideas, and match experiences.

Hell yeah, I really want to play a ranked match in Sandtrap.

Me and Cheezy were playing yesterday but it seems my new router can't handle having two 360s signed in at the same time. Blast! I totally would have invited you to come win with us (I don't think we lost any Social games) but I was pissed that we had to play split-screen instead of having two TVs.

I'm looking forward to it particular because a few of my friend who were late comers and haven't caught up to me in TS will be able to play something ranked with me. That and other than Rocket Race this is all we do in social.

The only gametype I can't stand overall is Neutral Flag....besides that I'm game for anything.

Yep, also known as pure chaos.

I'm a huge fan of round based games of Flag, Bomb, etc.. Multi Flag and Multi Bomb annoy me a little but Neutral is always a sh!t show.

If I'm going to get one I'd probably opt for the wireless headset.....if only I didn't have to get presents for OTHER people.

I despise the round based games, with the exception of territories.

I didn't expect much, but now I don't feel guilty for completely flooding/derailing/taking over the Main VG thread.

Territories on Valhalla is a beast of a game.

I dunno why I like round games, I guess it's mostly because I relish playing defense. I'd say I'm twice as good at defense than offense in most objective games.

Warthog can be key there if you're good. By the same token, I love it when some idiot buries it in the middle of 4 and all you do is toss a grenade and everyone dies.

I thought about it, and I realize why I hate those games. You're either going all out kinda throwing yourself at the wall, or you're sitting, waiting for something to happen.

You obviously haven't looked at my bungie page, or my flikr one. I should figure out the geevee thing and start posting film clips.

I get lasered almost 100% of the time when I use a vehicle in Valhalla.

Just so we get a little variety up in here, I thought I'd throw a post in.

I just started playing Halo 3 about a week ago. Love it love it love it. I suck at multi, but feel like I'm getting a little better with each match.

I have no idea how to show all my stats and stuff. But I've played about 4 matches on Live, so I won't have much to show anyways.

I've decided that Halo 3 will be my game of choice until I get sick of it. So hopefully I can get some mad stats and post em up.

This is what I find interesting about the game. I have a better K/D (been working hard not to be a drag on TS), but kb here is a waaaaay better player than me.

Well, you're going to die eventually, but at the start my biggest worry is the missile pod. If you're lucky the idiot cannons into the field with it and you run him down (and hopefully a teammate picks the 'pod up).

Anyway, since I bragged about my driving ability I had a horrid weekend. This is part because no one was looking to jump onto the back of the hog, which I totally don't get. I understand ppl not wanting to drive, but its a freakin' turret! You'd have to pretty unlucky not to get a kill or two with it. I don't get it.

And from the sounds of things MacNN might want to form a team for Ranked BTB.

I am so down for Ranked BTB with you guys.

All I require is the Sniper Rifle, BR, 'nades, and minimal cover and I'll get 20+ kills every time. You guys can duke it out for the hog/banshee/missile pod/etc.

We should organize a night to have us kill the **** out of each other in some custom games. Just as long as you promise not to make fun of me for being the Halo noob that comes in last.

That happens to me too. I jump in the Warthog and say something like, "Come on, guys!" And everybody else just ignores me and I'm left sitting there. That's why I like playing with actual friends, because I know they'll be able to grasp the subtleties of my strategy like "Hey, we can shoot people with this mobile turret."

What makes it even funnier is when you start playing the game everyone makes a run for it since its a power weapon. Now, not so much.

The person I level with in TS happens to love the turret the way I love to drive. When I play alone and someone else jumps on, they're usually pretty poor in comparison. There's a skill to prioritizing who to gun down and keeping an eye on your surroundings that you need to complement general accuracy.

i'm down for a custom game, we need to set up a day/time, all i need is some grenades and some melee....and a little BR

I'll always ride the hog if it's driven by someone I know.

My biggest pet peeve is getting my weapons all set and hopping into a hog with some asshat at the wheel who flips it over 12 times before we reach the other base. (resulting in death for all)

Custom games aren't my forte, but I'm down for that as well.

Basically anything but Neutral Flag and Neutral Bomb (as stated above) and I'm a happy player.

In all seriousness though, I think teammates who aren't in the hog in BTB have a responsibility to eliminate the laser and missile pod guys early. It's in their best interests in the long run.

Honestly, before I was any good with the laser, I'd kill the guy, then throw it on my back, just so the other team couldn't use it. Maybe you guys know something I don't but I figured it was good strategy.

Ug. Flamethrowers are such a support weapon. Camping too.

While I do have a few variants, I figured we be sticking to Slayer and TS game types. I guess it mostly relies on the turnout,though, which right now looks like 3.

Always grab the good weapons...even if you suck at using them. Best case scenario is you swap it with a teammate who can kick ass with it.

In Halo 2 I was a mediocre sniper, but I always would hang on to the rifle and try to give it to my teammates.

I only set myself on fire with them anyways.

They're an effective deterrent to the Sword guy on construct. If you're good worse case scenario is a double-kill (You both die).

So has anyone in here worked on much custom content? I've made decent amount of Custom game types, maybe half of which are good, and I just completed a Sandtrap War variant with a buffet of vehicles and some (hopefully) interesting locations/set ups (needs testing, though).

all this halo talk makes me want to drop my studying for finals and play...not good

I really want to derail this by yelling "Penn State Sucks!" but I'll just say, you've got a couple days left, you can make it.

ha sounds like a plan, don't worry i'm probably one of the very few who don't "bleed blue and white" I go to school here but its not my life story.

I've never seen Valhalla Stunts until a few nights ago (did they add it when they added Covies and the DLC). My buddy did his best to drive the unfamiliar track, and as we went through the man cannon, we went upside down. Somehow I kept my orientation, and blasted our competitors down below, as we scored upside-down.

I'm probably calling in sick tomorrow (gotta burn sick days before the end of the year) so i was thinking it'd be a good time to see if we can organize an informal grouping? Anyone interested, go ahead post what time you're prefer to get on in EST, and what games you're interest in doing. And by anyone interested, I mean, sek and kb.

Tomorrow anytime between 2-6. I work until 2 and the missus usually comes over around 6 so I can get 4 solid hours of play in.

I'm game for anything except Team Slayer (which I have my highest rank in) since you fools will probably help me rank down ;)

Also, for matchmaking's sake, we should really get one more person. Searching for matches with a party of three is a crapshoot at best.
