How come find my iPhone app doesn't work when my MBP is in the library?
When I use the Find My iPhone app at my apartment (using 3G on my iPhone 5) to find my MBP in the same apartment connected to wifi, it finds it no problem. However, when I use the app to find my MBP at the local library using the wifi from the library, it cannot find my MBP. Why?

Most likely guess: filtering by the library WiFi system. Keeping your average 14 year old boy from using a library computer to surf for pr0n is a Good Thing (IMO). Blocking a lot of less than above-board stuff is also pretty useful. Whatever ports Find My iPhone uses may be blocked because of the other filtering. I'd ask the library folks what they block and point out something "good" like FMI is also blocked.

Unless FMI uses IPv6 instead of ports in IPv4...

Yeah, seems like that. They do filter webpages, so maybe they filter this also in addition to various ports. Thanks.

Looks like it's port 443, used by SSL and the HTTPS protocols...
