Microsoft fixes licensing bug in Office for Mac 2011

Microsoft on Monday released a <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279045==http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2814835" rel='nofollow'>further update</a> specifically for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 that resolves a false licensing alarm bug. Specifically, Office 2011 applications would report a problem with licensing even though the applications would continue to run unaffected by the warning. The new problem was apparently introduced in the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279046==http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/01/29/office.for.mac.143.available.as.standalone.or.as.s ubscription/#VmJktXDgRsxusU04.99" rel='nofollow'>previous fix</a>, which also addressed various bugs with Exchange calendar servers, hyperlinks with hastags and other issues.<br />

The new update brings Office for Mac 2011 to version 14.3.1. The <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279038==http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9a07875e-1149-495d-835b-f9da08e11f24" rel='nofollow'>previous</a> bugfix update, issued just <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279039==http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/01/29/office.for.mac.143.available.as.standalone.or.as.s ubscription/#VmJktXDgRsxusU04.99" rel='nofollow'>two weeks ago</a> for the suite, also added compatibility with the company's online version, called <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279040==http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/office365/online-software.aspx" rel='nofollow'>Microsoft Office 365</a>.

The service is a subscription-based, <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/279041==http://www.electronista.com/articles/10/10/19/microsoft.office.365.cloud.service.arrives/" rel='nofollow'>browser-oriented version</a> of Microsoft Office that offers users updated, online software that works in conjunction with local copies (for offline use), integrating cloud storage and syncing to various platforms and devices for around $100 per year for the Home Premium version (major or minor upgrades are included in the price). Office for Mac 2011 is still compatible with OS X 10.5.8, but an Office 365 subscription requires 10.6 or later.
