Apple cuts iPhone 4, iPhone 4S prices in Brazil
Apple has lowered the prices of unlocked models of the <a href="http://store.apple.com/br/browse/home/shop_iphone">iPhone 4 and 4S</a> in Brazil, reports observe. The 8GB iPhone 4 has dropped from R$ 1499 ($741 US) to R$ 1099 ($544 US), while the 16 GB iPhone 4S has moved from R$ 1999 ($989 US) to R$ 1699 ($840 US). While buying either device in Brazil normally involves 12 monthly payments, paying in full over the phone can reduce prices by another 10 percent, to R$ 989 ($489 US) and R$ 1529 ($756 US), respectively. <br /><br />In the US the same phones cost $450 and $549. It's unclear why the 4S remains so much more expensive in Brazil, but the prices should at least make buying an iPhone more practical. Apple may be able to lower prices because an increasing number of iPhones are manufactured domestically, dodging taxes on imported goods. The iPhone 5 is still unavailable in the country.
