Apple escalates hiring for Prineville, Oregon datacenter
Apple is escalating its search for people to work at its under-construction Prineville, Oregon datacenter, notes AppleInsider. The company recently posted a job listing for an operations planner, as well as a site services technician. In late March, the company started looking for a chief engineer.

The new listings may indicate that the Prineville center is close to beginning operations. Construction began in October, but it's unsure how near to completion it might be, especially as Apple contractors are working on two 338,000 square-foot buildings. Land development and construction are believed to have cost Apple $68 million, and the company must still cope with expenses like hiring staff and installing servers. The final tally will likely extend into hundreds of millions, although unlike an Apple datacenter in Maiden, North Carolina, the Prineville complex will able to use third-party renewable power, instead of on-site sources.
The facility will help support iCloud, Apple's collection of sync and storage services. Even though the Maiden facility is dedicated to the same purpose, iCloud's tight integration with Mac and iOS devices means the company must be prepared for a constantly-growing number of users.
