Virginia UPS sorter charged with stealing over 60 Apple devices
A 31-year-old Virginia man, Stephen A. Owens, has been charged with embezzling over 60 Apple products as a sorter at a Springfield UPS facility. Police tell local CBS station WUSA9 that Owens is accused of stealing unopened Apple products -- sometimes by hiding them in his pants -- and then selling them at a discount. Stolen goods included iPhones, iPads, iPods, and MacBooks.

Thefts are said to have occurred in batches starting in September 2012. In November, UPS contacted Fairfax County Police, having received a number of complaints from customers that their orders from Apple hadn't shipped. That fueled a six-month investigation, during which detectives discovered a network of mainly online buyers and sellers stretched across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Not the first I heard about thieves among UPS workers. Sad.

"Hey Stephen. Is that a MacBook in your pocket, or are you just really glad to see me?"

I suppose we could just call each of the stolen phones... would be embarrassing to have the one in his pants go off.
