Briefly: RunKeeper gains new social features, Yelp updates Nearby page
FitnessKeeper has released the latest update for its RunKeeper- GPS Track Running Walking Cycling app, available on iTunes. RunKeeper tracks workout statistics such as pace, distance and time while exercising. Users are able to control their music and listen to built-in audio cues through headphones, as well as capture and save photos. Version 3.5 includes a revamped social experience, offering new options for interacting with friends directly within the app. Users can now follow all of their friends' activities and progress, including activity stats, photos and maps. New options for comparing workouts to previous activities are also included.
An updated Yelp for iPhone and iPad was released yesterday, offering a redesigned iPhone Nearby function. The search database gives users access to business directories in their area to learn addresses, combined user ratings, and details about the establishment. The new Nearby design displays local businesses based on variables such as the user's location, prior check-ins and reviews, time of day and weather. The Events function shows popular events on the Nearby tab, for more consolidated area searches.

Sigh.

All I wanted in any Runkeeper update/upgrade was for the app to not stop announcing speeds and heart rates in the middle of a ride.

Guess I'll find out my next ride if they actually fixed the problems...
