Apple patent head Boris Teksler leaves for French firm
Apple's most recent head of Patent Licensing & Strategy, Boris Teksler, has left the company to become president of the Technology Group at French media company Technicolor. The departure is confirmed by a Technicolor press release issued this week. At his new employer, Teksler will also serve on the company's executive committee, where he will help in the "exploitation of its IP assets."

Teksler has been instrumental in Apple's patent infringement lawsuits against Samsung. During court testimony last year, Teksler mentioned that in 2010, he'd warned Steve Jobs and Tim Cook that Samsung phones might be infringing on patents related to concepts like "rubber-banding" interface windows. Jobs and Cook brought the issues to Samsung executives, and differences between the two parties resulted in Apple filing lawsuits. Jobs once promised to go to "thermonuclear war" over infringements he claimed were in Android devices like Samsung's.
Before joining Apple, Teksler spent 16 years at Hewlett-Packard. There he helped start the company's intellectual property licensing business.
