Apple I worth up to $500K to go on auction at Christie's
An Apple I built in 1976 is slated to go up for auction next week at Christie's. The Associated Press says that while bidding for the computer will start at $300,000, it could reach as high as $500,000. In May, a working Apple I system (pictured) sold for $671,400 at an auction in Germany.

The Apple I was the first Apple product, but only about 200 units were ever built before the company moved on to other systems like the Apple II. As a consequence very few I models are still left in existence; current estimates range between 30 and 50. Fewer still are in working condition, owing to deterioration over time and the specialized knowledge and parts that might be needed to fix them.
