WhatsApp publicly reveals its popularity
The makers of Whatsapp, a third-party messaging platform, told The Wall Street Journal Thursday that it has more than 250 million monthly active users. This number release has been the first definitive number release from the company, and it indicates that it app is one of the largest messaging platforms and possibly surpasses Twitter. WhatsApp is encroaching upon the profits of telecom carriers that profit from text messaging, creating concern for many companies.
