Apple seeds second OS X 10.8.5 beta build to developers, retail staff
The weekly updates of the next minor update to OS X Mountain Lion continue, with the second beta of OS X 10.8.5 being distributed to developers and Apple retail staff through the Mac Developer Center and the Mac App Store for those with developer or employee accounts. The release again focuses on bug fixes rather than new features, though there is some speculation that the forthcoming release could be the last for Mountain Lion as the company focuses on OS X Mavericks (10.9), the second Developer Preview of which was sent out on Tuesday.

Developers and testers are again asked to focus their efforts on checking Wi-Fi -- including the newly-supported 802.11ac networking -- and graphics performance, as well as "wake from sleep" functionality, and PDF viewing. Accessibility and Mobile Device Management are also listed as areas for testing in the latest beta, but weren't mentioned in the previous beta's release notes.

The build number, 12F13, is only four digits higher than last week's beta, 12F9. Apple employees who wish to assist with testing are now allowed access to the development betas of both OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Mavericks. The most recent release for Mountain Lion, 10.8.4, was issued earlier this month.
Any chance this version will address the stuttering problem when playing videos, audio files or just plain keystroke entries?

This problem is being reported, has been reported since the upgrade to 10.8.
