Infinity Blade III trailer goes live, game to launch next week
A new pair of videos have emerged on YouTube promoting the forthcoming release of Infinity Blade III, which had a surprise debut at the iPhone rollout put on by Apple on Tuesday. While the game was thought to be in development (following the cancellation of the previously-announced Infinity Blade: Dungeons sequel) in August, the launch date was far in advance of what had been expected. The game will debut on iOS on September 18, just two days ahead of the arrival of the iPhone 5c and 5s at retail -- and is currently an iOS exclusive.

According to publisher Epic, the game will run in 32-bit mode with reduced graphics on the iPhone 4 and later, and the iPad 2 and later (including the iPad mini) as well as the fourth- and fifth-generation iPod touch. However, the game has been crafted to take advantage of the 64-bit nature of the iPhone 5s, and appears to offer improved graphics on that device, judging by the game demonstration seen during Apple's iPhone event (video below).
Each of the eight "worlds" presented in the new game are as large an environment as was seen in the whole of the first Infinity Blade game. Players play as two characters, now including a female, stealthy warrior/thief named Isa who was featured (but not a playable character) in Infinity Blade II. Players must now overcome the "father" of the Infinity Blade, the Worker of Secrets, and his army of Titans.
The first video (also seen below) is a trailer for the game itself, while the second is the cinematic opening to the game, recapping the story to this point and revealing the stakes for the final chapter. The animation for the cinematics where done by the same company (Framestore) that provided the "Tale of Three Brothers" shadow-play animations for the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One.

In addition to the new game and its two prequels, the franchise has also spawned a line of ancillary merchandise, including two novels. Epic has previously said that the iOS-based series has been even more profitable for the company that its Xbox 360 series Gears of War.
