Next Twitter iOS update to feature dedicated TV-talk stream
While some viewers still prefer to focus their attention on a TV show and cogitate on it before commenting publicly, many modern viewers enjoy the social interaction of reading and providing their own "commentary track" to episodes of TV shows, awards shows or sporting events as they happen; splitting their focus between what's happening on the TV and what's happening in a social feed. Twitter will be addressing this with a new feed dedicated to various popular TV shows in the next version of its iOS app, which will also be updated for iOS 7.

The new feed is part of a push to make the dedicated Twitter iOS app more visual and more appealing for casual users, reports AllThingsD. Users already often turn to the service for posting about shows or events they are watching, and others search on the show's name or a hashtag to find the comments -- but the updated interface will make it easier for first-times to find conversations revolving around their favourite shows, whether it be Breaking Bad or Big Brother, Downton Abbey or Doctor Who. It will also replace the tabs at the bottom of the current app with a more intuitive "swipe to change streams" approach.
In the updated Twitter iOS app -- which will also sport a new, iOS 7-complimenting look as well as other changes -- there will be "TV" tab that will feature "trending topics" for shows airing at the time as well as steady conversations on shows with cult followings, like Game of Thrones. The normal stream veteran users are familiar with will also be available, as well as a "conversations" stream and another new stream dedicated to just shared photos on Twitter. It should be noted that a more multimedia-centric approach will also make it easier to insert ads in streams, something the company is expanding as it prepares for its stock IPO.

The updated app should be available shortly after Apple releases the iOS 7 update, which is coming on Wednesday, September 18. A smaller bug-fix and compatibility update will likely be released first, with the overhauled version coming shortly thereafter.
