Apple's Tim Cook joins Twitter, comments on Palo Alto visit
Apple CEO Tim Cook has joined Twitter, users observe. His first post refers to his visit to Palo Alto earlier today. "Visited Retail Stores in Palo Alto today," Cook writes. "Seeing so many happy customers reminds us of why we do what we do." The account has been verified by Twitter.

Both the Palo Alto tour and the Twitter post may hint at Cook wanting to engage more personally in promoting his company's products. Earlier this week the CEO participated in a rare interview, during which he referred to cheaper smartphones as "junk," and attacked Android over fragmentation and devices getting stuck with outdated firmware. The company's stock took a hit last week when it was revealed that the iPhone 5c wouldn't be a genuinely affordable device able to gain more traction in markets like China.
