Apple's Calendar, Reminders suffer three-hour outage
The online store from Apple has been listed on the company's System Status page as down for planned maintenance from approximately midnight Wednesday (eastern time) to 4AM ET. The downtime occurred just after a three-hour partial outage in which users could access most services, but the web Calendar and Reminders applications were nonfunctional. Most iCloud disruptions are brief and only affect a small portion of users, but both of the recent downtimes affected all users.

The Apple online store often shuts down for a period of time, sometimes in advance of new product announcements and most frequently on early Tuesday mornings (ET). While maintenance in the current time frame is not unheard of, the timing of the previously-unannounced store downtime is suspicious in light of the problem.

Users who engaged with Calendar and Reminders using the native Mac or iOS apps would not have seen any interruption in service; only those accessing the programs through the portal. The iCloud issue lasted from around 9:40PM ET to 12:55AM ET on Wednesday.

The services are now functioning normally, with only the online store listed as down due to the maintenance.
