Briefly: Photo FX app Snap Art 4, doctor visit app launch
Alien Skin Software today announced its upcoming release of Snap Art 4, an artistic natural media application for photographers. Featuring a redesigned UI and improved speed, Snap Art 4 can render hundreds of styles and media, such as oil paint, pencil sketch, et cetera, to mimic the technique of human artists on a photo image. Emulating brush strokes and drawing lines, its masking tool can bring out extra detail in a photo. Snap Art is compatible for integration with many popular photography editing software tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Apple Aperature, and can also be launched as a standalone application. Available in November 2013, Snap Art 4 will be priced at $100, with upgrading pricing at $70. Free upgrades will be automatically sent to those who purchased Snap Art 3 from Alien Skin Software in August 2013 or later.

American Well launches, first live doctor visit app

American Well, a telehealth services company, has announced the release of its new, live video-chat doctor visit app for mobile devices. American Well's consumer-direct doctor visits allow users to access a health practitioner's health advice and obtain e-prescriptions without the need for booking an in-person appointment. Consumers can either choose a specific doctor, or connect with the next available one. A catalogue of doctors' profiles and a consumer-driven rating system is included. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play, with each doctor appointment priced at $50. Video appointments can be facilitated at any time of day in 44 states, and online visits qualify for most high deductible healthcare plans.
