Macbook Pro RAM and SSD choices
Hi everyone, I'm a new Mac owner and member,
Got a new Macbook Pro 13 with stock 4GB and 500GB hard drive. SLOW. Want to add 2X8=16GB, and a 256GB SSD. Rep told me 1600 DDR3 should work. I personally like G-Skill and Corsair brands. Will 9-9-9-27 timing work well? Any recommendations? Anyone using Samsung 840 Pro? Comments? Best protective sleeves? I like SPECK reviews. Personal experiences? Thanks for insights. |
Samsung is the best ssd maker AFAIK. This a good RAM company: CT102464BF160B - 8GB, 204-pin SODIMM , DDR3 PC3-12800 from Crucial.com

Crucial - both parts
I trust Crucial for RAM and SSDs.
I have 16 Gig of RAM from Crucial - inexpensive and works flawlessly. I have a 512 Gb SSD from Crucial and it worked great. I did have to use Carbon Copy Cloner to get my machine transferred over from the old spinning hard drive, however. For some reason Time Machine failed to update to my latest backup. My machine flies now. I'll never go back to a spinning hard drive. Oh, I also added a 128 Gb SDHC (?) card in the expansion slot - I have plenty of space for applications and records. |
Crucial.com for the RAM, Samsung 840 for the SSD.
