Blown USB port on MBP, any Apple techs here?
I blew out one of my MBP's USB ports by accidentally plugging in a device with a power supply at a higher voltage than what was designed for the device. Is it easy to replace a USB port on a mid 2009 MBP, or is the only way to replace it to swap out the logic board?

You probably already did this, but did you do a SMC reset?

AFAIK, it's a motherboard swap.

I didn't try an SMC reset, but I just did and it had no noticeable effect, although I also didn't notice any feedback that the SMC was reset either so I'm not completely confident that it was actually done.

Thanks for the suggestion though, it was worth trying. I forgot to add that when I blew the port my machine actually powered down and it smelled smokey, so I'm pretty sure it was blown.
