What version on what machine are you using?

I've got a four-year-old 2 GHz C2D MacBook and the latest on 10.6, and it's just using around 20% - a HUGE improvement over older versions.

Im running the current v of Safari on a 2.4GHz C2D MBP and Safari is not bothered at all by this thread so far. Running around 20%.

Pinwheeling constantly and I can barely scroll down two posts without it locking up for a few seconds.

Are you telling me I actually would see a difference with SL?

BTW this thread loads a lot smoother in Chrome under Windows XP on the same machine :\

Hell yeah.

HUGE difference.

Right now, all those smileys animating away at right, and the entire thread off-screen below in this Reply window, Safari's using around 10%.

But how is it running on your iPhone 3GS? Only a few images will load on my iPad now. Most are just blue question marks.
