Totally unexpected.

I thought maybe one or two here or there, but this...

That's really cool! However, when someone says Dr. Who, this is what I see in my mind:

this is excellent news! (for who fans). So many potentially lost episodes found. Hopefully tomb of the cybermen amongst them!

Yeah Tom Baker was kind of definitive. Been a big fan of Matt Smith though and looking forward to Peter Capaldi. He's a great actor.

I love Tom too, but I think part of that is he was what PBS played the most here in the US. I barely even saw any Dr one or two, and very little three. I read a lot of the books and liked the characters there, enough to recognize the references in the 5 Doctors etc...

There are some 1 and 2 eps on demand (amazon etc) and it was fun to watch them. It will be really cool to see new (ish) who... especially considering that so much was lost, because the BBC taped over it, never thinking it would be valuable!

Word of this discovery has been bandied about fandom for a while, and honestly, DM notwithstanding, I don't know where the truth in this is anymore.

That said, if you're a nuWho fan, these may be very nearly unwatchable. Props to the era, etc, but man. Pacing and SFX may be big showstoppers.

Nah- I'm a big classic Who fan. Genesis of the Daleks and Earthshock are two of my ALL TIME favorite sci-fi stories.

I'm with you, and I actually agree. Rewatching old episodes without being able to turn off the adult brain is kinda rough. Almost every episode is screwed from the outset by needing to stretch three acts into four.

That said, I cried at the end of Earthshock.

The trailer looks very good, but I wish they hadn't spoiled the ending.
