Batch Image Size Adjustment
I want to batch process some images and while it seems to me the sort of thing I ought to be able to do with Automator, I don't think I can. The reason being that I want to resize them in both directions at once.

In a perfect world, It wouldn't specifically change the size of the image, just the aspect ratio so that all images in the selection were altered to have matching proportions. I realise this would change the size slightly, but some images are bigger than others. I just want the thumbnails to be the same shape. Failing this, I could live with changing them all to a specific size, but it needs to be defined for both height and width, not just one or the other.

Any ideas?

Automator can change images to fixed pixel sizes.

GraphicConverter also has batch processing capabilities.

Automator gives the option to fix the longest side of an image to a certain number of pixels but it constrains the proportions. I can't see any option to change that behaviour.

I worked out how to set them all to the same size using Bridge and Photoshop. Thanks.

You can set them to fixed sizes (unproportional, I believe).

You can crop to certain sizes. Not scale. Not that I can find.

If you're comfortable with shell scripts, give imagemagick a try.
ImageMagick can determine the size of the current image and use that info to run additional commands.
Combine this with Perl and you can do about anything you could think up.
