Start the MacBook while holding down the shift key. If this works, then it's probably a conflict with QuickTime 7.1, it is incompatible with some 3rd party start up items on the intel...

How did you get the Dell for $550? And was that the 20" or the 24", I assume the 20".

We have been connecting to the other OS X boxes via TCP/IP. It works much better, and the connection is much more robust, and doesn't drop as frequently. We created a shortcut too, from a tip here...
