Yeah this happens with my old ass g3 400 occasionally.
if i pull out the power cord from the back of the computer for about 10 seconds, put it back in, then turn on again it usually works again....

I only have one G3 400 crunching part time on rc5 now. And I'm doing SETI on my iMac 400 again.

I have been using 3ivx a bit lately and i find it to be pretty good. I encode mostly at 320x240 and my G3 400 handles that no problem. I go with the quality on 91%, and blur on either level 1 or 2....
