The power button simply refuses to turn the computer on anymore. I just have to restart it one more time to move the settings over to a different computer. Apple has no online manual for this model...

Apple has gotten reasonable with the cost for RAM in BTO computers. If the price is close, I'd go with Apple. Everything is covered under warranty (or AppleCare) that way.
