The only way I can see they'd do it is to create a standalone installer that can be downloaded from the net, and then use it with the installer CD in the drive... Possible, I guess, but will they?

AFAIK, you can plug in an apple USB keyboard into a PC, and it should work with a generic keyboard driver. Granted, the power and eject keys won't work, but that's not a big loss.
