USB 2.0, Where is it? 617 Views / 11 Replies
USB 2.0 is out, but none the less Apple didn't change the motherboard to add it. Probably b/c they don't want to let it compete with FireWire. So it's either a PCI card or plain USB.

Same here, a bit of a mixed feling about the keynote. But well, a pricedrop of $1500 on a G4 733 is quite unusual. Too bad they removed the 1 mb level 3 cache. And the RAM it comes with, shame on you...

I'd give it a 6/10.

The iMac were nice but only upgraded 100 MHz, Probly b/c Motorola/IBM can't deliver faster G3's even tho we hear rumours about them. No 133 MHz motherboard in the iMac and...

I'm still thinking about a new mac to replace my B&W G3 350. I was thinking of the 867 MHz G4, but saving a little more and getting the dual 800 is tempting. But by the time I got enough for a dual...

I don't think we'll see a dramatic price drop, perhaps a few hundred dollars but no more. I don't know how many machines Apple still has in stock, but you can assume they saw what they were bringing...

Why we WON'T see a LCD iMac 436 Views / 1 Replies
The main reason why we IMHO won't see a LCD iMac is the price. a 15" TFT LCD costs $599. So either Apple should get them at a bargin price, or they'll simply drive the price of the iMac up too much....

I wonder if Apple will upgrade the motherboard in the iMac to 133 MHz, cause they use the same speed in they top of the line G4s.
But if Apple decides to get new iMacs out, the iMacs shipped in...

Sorry to bother you michael, but the 25th anniversary of Apple Computer already past, 1 April 2001 was the date, if I'm correct. But 2004 isn't far away and perhaps they come with a Mac on Jan 24...

I agree that a 9500 is still a cool machine, but a 9600 is way easier to work in, adding DIMMS, etc. And by the time you get your Ti, you can put linux on the 9x00 and use it as a web/file server.

I'd go for the SE/30 too, happen to have one with a broken SCSI internal HD which someone (not me) needs to fix. It's a great machine, indeed probly one of the best Apple ever made.

I've used Macs since Feb 1993, and I never regretted that they didn't have the abilities a PC had (more software, more extras). I currently work on a G3 B&W running OS X 10.0.4, and a PowerBook Pismo...
