First of all, thanks for the reply.

You can filter outgoing mail, but it does take that extra step of doing it from the Sent folder i.e. send the mail, which puts the sent mail in the Sent...

Thanks Misha. The problem appears to have been both what you mentioned and a corrupt QuickTime file. I heard from someone else that QuickTime is necessary for Appearances to work. Thanks again.
