Happy with my DP800 1,554 Views / 26 Replies
A bit uncomfortable with what you can buy nowadays with the same amount of cash, but I have never felt better about a computer purchase than I have with the DP800.

My iBooks is happy at least 967 Views / 6 Replies
Ever since 10.2 was installed, my iBook had the nasty habit of waking from sleep and having the time, battery and network status on the toolbar frozen at the last time the computer went to sleep.

Re: SIIG ATA RAID: should i update to Acard firmware v.2.42? 711 Views / 6 Replies
I flashed my SIIG RAID card with the ACARD firmware and I could not be happier. I needed both that and the Deep Sleep fix to get my Dual 800 to sleep properly running OS X. A Quicksilver is...

I've had the tray get out of synch like that. I'd tell it to load a disk, and it's mount adn immediately eject, staying open all the time in OS X until I told it to repeat the process.

But does the screen actually turn off? 827 Views / 7 Replies
In many LCD devices, powersave just means "turn off the backlight". Careful viewing of the screen under strong light shows an image is still there.

The way the ACARD (or SIIG, or Sonnet) RAID cards work is by presenting the striped array as a single drive. As far as OS X is concerned, it's just a regular ol' drive. So I see no reason why it...

RAID 0 does, you split your data across two drives so that the pair look like one large, fast drive. So if one of them goes, you lose all your data.

RAID 1 (also available on these cards) mirrors...

Actually the drive itself on the stock ATA bus your machine came with will work nice. My setup was like this:

Initial: QS DP800 w/60GB 7200RPM Maxtor (stock) drive, pretty good performance.
