No existing HD is 100% silent. It hardly can't... there are moving parts inside of it.

But there are rather annoying ones (my Toshiba 15 GB was). My Fujitsu 2030AT ist almost unhearable.

Scrolling with the cursor buttons works fine here. I LOVE the cursor buttons (in conjunction with option, shift, fn) for all kind of navigation in Safari and Finder ect.

It's ok. Li-Ion batteries allow only a limited amount of load cycling (about 300, IIRC). In addition, they wear down even if you don't use them. Effective usage is guaranteed for about 3 years...
