In my experience, you should not have any problems leaving apps open and sleeping your Mac -- I do it all the time with my flat-panel iMac and dual-USB iBook.

What version of Norton Utilities do you have? Did you boot from the CD? Remember, you shouldn't run Disk Doctor or Speed Disk (or any disk utility for that matter) on the disk that you booted from.

Sound quality is a show-stopper for me. It will have to be better than 128 kbps MP3 for me to pay for it. If the rumors that the service will use AAC are true, this may be a non-issue.
