Dashboard works fine for viewing the Widgets...

It could just be my imagination but my 17" seems to be running hotter too after the upgrade. I never really noticed much heat from my PB before the upgrade but I am now.

Well I'm still new to Mac's & I can't answer your first question but in my pc I had ram chip that was 256 but it only registered as 128 and it turned out the memory chip was defective.
