In a quick word...RAM helps a lot but the snapiness is really from dual cpu's.

The dual's do a great job balancing any kind of load.

Yes, I have the internal version. Once you install the lacie drivers, it can burn just fine from the Finder, iTunes, etc. And yes it is bootable.

System profiler should be able to see it even when you haven't installed the drivers. What's weird is you shouldn't have been able to burn in...

There is software (drivers) that you have to install for it on the DVD utilities v.6.4 that it came with.

Good point, it is a similar support situation for me too.
The other reason is that it would be nice to have a CD that would boot all modern macs. (new iBooks, PowerBooks,etc)
