Yes, I have the internal version. Once you install the lacie drivers, it can burn just fine from the Finder, iTunes, etc. And yes it is bootable.

I'm not sure what problem you are having. Is it not recognized in Finder and iTunes? There is software (drivers) that you have to install for it on the DVD utilities v.6.4 that it came with.

Good point, it is a similar support situation for me too. The other reason is that it would be nice to have a CD that would boot all modern macs. (new iBooks, PowerBooks,etc)
