I definitely would, that white plasticy stuff is ugly! I like the metallicy look on my 600 MHz iBook and I would not buy the 700 MHz one just for that reason.

There should be a white pulsating light on the front right next to the button to open the latch that comes on when the iBook truly is in sleep. Maybe you have a bad LED or the iBook is not going to...
