I tried a lot of different fixes and the only one that worked was to upgrade to ios 6 and iTunes 11, which is ok except I don't like the new iTunes very much.

I just installed 10.6.8 on my 2007 iMac, from 10.5. Now when I connect the iPad to the computer, iPhoto opens and shows the iPad...

Actually, there was still another update from 9.0.116 to 9.0.124 that I hadn't updated to yet, so now I've updated to 9.0.124 and I'll see how that works.

It was suggested elsewhere that I try these:
1. Check to see if " Journaling" is enabled on the drive. Open Disk Utility. In the menu click File/Enable Journaling. See if that helps...
2. Safe Boot...

Disk Utility "Verify Disk" Grayed Out 7,139 Views / 4 Replies  
Disk Utility's "Verify Disk" button is always grayed out on my iMac 10.4.11.
It is not grayed out on my iBook 10.4.1.
Both machines have Disk Utility Version 10.5.6 (198.12).
Any ideas?
