That's great for all of the people for whom fixed work.

I've had my machine sent in three times since I bought it, all for the same issue. All of the "repairs" have not worked. People with the...

Good luck. 2 of the 17" models in my Apple Store had the same problem.

If you set your brightness to 6 bars and your background to white and your illumination is still solid with no grey around...

Yes, people have had their PBs returned with uneven illumination, saying the machine was within spec.

There is currently NO fix for uneven illumination.

Heh, I wouldn't know.

I know I'm an outlier as far as Apple quality is concerned, but my dad has fewer problems in 5 years on his IBM laptop than I've had on my PowerBook in a month and a half.

The latch is actually really easy to fix. When it comes out and is about to catch, you stop it and bend it into place. There's instructions for this somewhere online, or you could have Apple do it....

You might want to tinker with your brightness. I ad the same issue on my 15", and while that procedure looked like it did the trick, as soon as I adjusted the brightness to a lower setting (what you...

I don't blame Apple for dead pixels. That's the reality of LCD screens, and while it's unfortunate, it's the way it is for now.

The beef I have is that my first screen was pixel perfect. Then...

I hear you, slider. I love this machine. I hate to see it go into the shop for repair. At the same time though, one of the appeals of the PB is how beautiful the display is. Having the left side...

Called Applecare Education today, spoke to a really friendly tech. Told him I was currently on my second screen and he said he hadn't heard of the problem before. I tend to believe him as well, he...

Please keep us posted about your repair!

There are a lot of owners with 15" PBs having the same problem. Sadly, it seems to recur even after a screen replacement, at least on the 15" model.

Please let us know if the screen stays fixed. Many of us with the uneven illumination problem have had their screen swapped out, only to find that the replacement would exhibit the uneven...

bunny, you have uneven illumination on your 17"? That's the first I've heard about it cropping up on that size.

So I've been thinking of what we can do to get a response from Apple.

If I'm not mistaken, that was about the white spot issue. Even if it wasn't, there has not been a solid fix since that announcement that anyone's heard anything about.
