I'm running at ~4.21 capacity (I check using XBattery), but I've heard that it is healthy to slow-drain the battery every few months regardless of current capacity. Is this true?

Don't think so. None of the obvious problem files are VBR, and I know for a fact that many of my VBR files play just fine.
