I dont know if Apple will fix any cosmetic problems, you would need to ask them. My MBP has been in for repair twice (In Paris, France) Once for the screen inverter and once for a new logic board....

Switching off the second processor is unacceptable. I paid a premium to have a intel duo machine. I have also found that if you switch off one processor the temp increases more rapidly.

This is incorrect. The Duo can stand upto 100oc, at 125oc it closes down. 60oc is pretty cool for a duel processor. The MBP proc will run from 70 to 80oc at full throttle.
