No, the Mac Mini can't do Core Image (at least via hardware), it has to do it via software so it's going to tax/slow down the CPU more.

It seems the problem is on both, just that it's more pronounced on the 17" since it's smaller and requires the fans to operate faster. It's not really the "loudness" that's the problem it's the pitch...

1. 1.5 - 1.7 ghz G4, bumps to other parts.

2. IF G5 comes out it'll be a new chassis and it'll be at least .5" thicker with a noisy fan.

I really like it, no problems so far. The hardest part (for me) of putting your mobo and cpu in the box has been done, so that was cool. Pop in your drives, ram, and vid card then you're off.
